Cars 2 is an upcoming sequel to the 2006 film, Cars. In this movie, Piston Cup star (though he didn't actually won) Lightning McQueen together with his best friend Mater embark on an international adventure to compete with the world's fastest cars as they race in the first ever World Grand Prix.


Cars 2 movie will more likely be centered around Mater's adventure of his own: international espionage, top secret mission, and being troubled between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race.

His adventure leads him to an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe. All new-car cast are introduced including secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy reprises their role as Lightning McQueen and Mater, respectively.

Unfortunately, three voice actors from the original film have died since its release.

George Carlin, who voiced Fillmore, died on June 22, 2008 due to heart failure. Lloyd Sherr will replace George Carlin in the upcoming Cars 2.

Paul Newman, voicing Doc Hudson, died on September 26, 2008 due to cancer. John Lasseter had been adamant that Newman would return. After Newman's death, Lasseter said they would "see how the story goes with Doc Hudson." It has been confirmed that Doc Hudson will not be returning for the film, despite the promotional pictures which had Doc Hudson in them.

Joe Ranft, who voiced Red, died on August 16, 2005, ten months prior to the release of the first film, due to an automobile accident. Red will be appearing in the film but not yet confirmed who'll voice.


Cars 2 was released on June 24th, 2011 (US).
